Zotero and ZoteroBib

Zotero is a free open-source, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, and share research. With a Reed email address you have unlimited storage, which helps people collaborate and share in all disciplines. Since Zotero is open-source and free, it enables students to take their libraries with them after they leave Reed. For more information, please look at our Zotero Guide.

Here are some of the things Zotero can do:

  • create citations in different styles (ex. MLA, APA, Chicago, ACS, etc)
  • copy citations into your paper
  • create and export a bibliography
  • edit and save your bibliography

ZoteroBib is like Zotero, with some exceptions. ZoteroBib doesn't have sharing capabilities and it stores your references in the web browser's cache. This means that it cannot save references if you use Incognito or Private Browsing mode.
