Zines @ Reed

Learn about zine making resources at Reed College.

About the Collection

Founded in 2018 by Maria Cunningham, former Head of Special Collections and Archives, the Reed Zine Library began as a browsable, non-circulating zine collection, located on the main floor of the Reed College Library in an underutilized office space. In 2022, Ann "A'misa" Matsushima Chiu took over as zine librarian who expanded the collection for student work, started a zine library internship and mentorship program, and began collaborating on the zine + art programs with Visual Resources Curator Chloe Van Stralendorff. Chloe and Ann brought zines to campus with the Reed Zine Fest in 2024 and 2025. The zine library's goal is to be a space of creativity, inspiration and student engagement.

Currently, the Reed Zine Library has over 1000+  circulating zines meaning Reed students, staff and faculty can check out zines and enjoy them. Anyone can browse the zines. The zine library provides zine resource books, zine making materials, zine kits for check out, and a work area for zine making.
