This guide is designed to assist students with their Virtual Exhibition Project.

Exhibition Project Overview

Creating a digital exhibit is similar to planning a physical one, requiring careful consideration of various conceptual elements. Discuss the questions below with your group:

  • What story are you telling through your exhibit?
  • What is the narrative thread or guiding concept that connects the artwork you selected?
  • Who is your intended audience?
  • How will you structure the layout of your exhibit? 
  • Will the structure of the layout impact the audience as intended?

Curating Your Exhibition

Requirements

  • Read the Image Quality Basics, Kunstmatrix, and Image Resources sections.
  • Use web-optimized images for faster image loading on Kunstmatrix. Acceptable formats are PNG, JPEG, and JPG.
  • Use the Image Quality Workflow below to make sure your images are ready for upload to Kunstmatrix:
    1. Use image databases and select a total of 10 artworks.
    2. Check resolution: image resolution should be between 72 PPI to 300 PPI max. 
    3. Check image dimension: The image dimension should be a minimum of 1500 pixels on the shortest side of your image.
    4. Check file size: Compress your file size using tools like Photoshop or Squoosh, as Kunstmatrix has a file size limit of 5 Megabytes (equivalent to ~5000 KB).

Suggestions

  • Adjust the longest side of your image to 1500 pixels for quicker gallery loading.
  • Adjust your image resolution to 72 PPI for quicker gallery loading.
