Virtual Exhibition Project

This guide is designed to assist students with their Virtual Exhibition Project.

Exhibition Project Overview

Creating a digital exhibit is similar to planning a physical one, requiring careful consideration of various conceptual elements. Discuss the questions below with your group:

  • What story are you telling with your exhibit?
  • What is the narrative or guiding concept that connects the artwork you selected?
  • How will you curate the artwork of your exhibit?
  • Who is your intended audience?
  • How will you design the layout of your exhibit?
  • Will the structure of the layout impact the audience as intended?

Curating Your Exhibition

Reference the Image Quality Workflow below and read the Image Quality Basics, Kunstmatrix, and Image Resources sections.

  • Check the image requirements for using Kunstmatrix:
    1. Images: Use image databases and select a total of 10 artworks.
    2. File Format: Use JPEG or PNG file formats. Use web-optimized images for faster image loading on Kunstmatrix.
    3. Resolution: image resolution should be between 72 PPI and 300 PPI max. A higher DPI (Dots Per Inch) ensures sharp details, clear text, and accurate colors, while lower resolutions can result in blurry or pixelated prints.
    4. Image dimension: The image dimension should be a minimum of 1200 pixels on the shortest side of your image.
    5. Check file size: Compress your file size. Kunstmatrix has a file size limit of 5 Megabytes (5MB or ~5000KB).
    6. Image Resizing: If your image file size or resolution exceeds the best practices above, we recommend you resize your images. Click the button below to find resources on resizing!
