Citations allow you to document where the information you've used in your research came from and to give other scholars proper credit for their work.  As you work on your research paper, keep track of all the sources you use.

You will use the MLA Style Manual for your citations. The 8th edition is available in the library. MLA has a website with many resources as well. Purdue University has a great guide on their website: MLA Formatting and Style Guide

When to cite?  If the information in your paper is not your original idea, and it is not common knowledge, you need to cite it.

Citation management software, like Zotero, can help you collect and organize your citations. The library and CUS offer workshops, online guides, and one-on-one support for Zotero.
