Biology Qual - Spring 2024

During the 2023/24 year, the library is testing LibKey, which is software that connects users to articles quicker. Our goal for this year-long pilot is to see if it provides easier access to both our paid subscriptions and open access articles.

• LibKey calls their product an “active and dynamic linking technology” and it fits between you, the open web, and the library collection. 
• For online articles that have a DOI or PMID number assigned to them, LibKey collates information about the article — including our subscribed journal holdings, open access status, and retraction details  — to calculate your best link to that scholarly content. 
• If LibKey cannot find a direct link or if an online resource does not have a DOI or PMID, you will be immediately forwarded to our catalog to check our access options or place an ILL (Interlibrary Loan) request.

What is BrowZine?

BrowZine lets you browse, read, save, and monitor journals in your subject areas on your mobile device, laptop, or desktop. BrowZine provides access to many of our licensed journals on your mobile device. You can create a personal bookshelf of favorite journals and save articles to be read later.

Where can I get it?

Web version: Go to  browzine.com/libraries/3388/subjects

Mobile version: Download it to your iPad, iPhone, or Android device from the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon (Android only). When you open BrowZine for the first time, you’ll see a list of schools – select Reed College then enter your email address and password when prompted.
