Reed Special Collections & Archives: An Overview

This guide provides an overview of the Reed College Special Collections & Archives

What is the Reed College Special Collections & Archives?

The Reed Special Collections and Archives collects, preserves, and provides access to rare books, manuscripts, college archives, and other primary source materials with enduring historical value.

The RSCA has several major collecting areas. These include Reed College History, Rare Books, Reediana, Senior Theses, and Artists’ Books to name a few. A full list of our collections can be found on our website. Materials held in Special Collections and Archives are often rare, unique, or fragile. For this reason, they are not available for checkout but may be viewed in person. Some of our archival materials can also be accessed online through our digital collection if you are unable to visit us in person.

Location:

We are located down in the archives room of the Reed College Library (L014) on Lower Level 2 (take staircase D or lobby elevator).

Hours:

The RSCA is open Monday-Thursday from 10am to 4pm and on Friday by appointment only. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and major holidays. We are open during breaks with adjusted hours from 1pm to 4pm.

To schedule an appointment, submit a patron request, or ask a question, contact us by email (preferred) or phone.
