Activate or Renew your NYT Account

Instructions to activate your account or renew your account.

  1. Go to www.accessnyt.com and start typing Reed in the search box then select Reed College once it appears.
  2. You will then see an orange box with paths to continue based on whether you are on campus ("click here") or off campus (Go button).
  3. On the next screen, if you do not already have an NYT account using your Reed email address, click Create Account. If you do already have an NYT account tied to your Reed email address, click "Already have an account? Log in here."
  4. When you move on to the next page, don't use the option of Google, Facebook, or Apple to create an account. Instead, enter your Reed email address. Enter a new-to-you password -- for security, do not re-use your Kerberos password.
  5. Choose your status. If you are a student, you must put in your graduation year. (If you are a spring/fall senior, use the following year as your graduation date. For example, if you're due to graduate at the end of the 2023 fall term, use 2024 as your graduation year.)
  6. Verify your account via the confirmation email.

After claiming your access, you can sign into your NYT account directly at nytimes.com from any computer using the same email and password used to create your account. There is no need to go through the library's URL again until your account needs to be renewed.

If you are accessing NYT on a public computer, please remember to sign out.
